UASU Students' Council/GFC Vacancy Petition

When a Council Election concludes and leaves seats unfilled, Vacancy Petitions are the mechanism to fill them until the Fall By-Election. When a By-Election leaves seats unfilled, Vacancy Petitions are used to fill them until the Council Election. You may apply to fill vacancies on either Students' Council or GFC, or both. Any list of 10 students in your faculty, with their names, faculties, years of study, signatures, and student ID numbers. Candidates for Open Studies do not need signatures. If nominators are collected through a Google Form or similar program, the CRO considers name plus student ID number to be equivalent to a signature.

Candidates must understand that what they say and do while seeking and holding public office will face public scrutiny and become part of permanent, public-facing records. Successful candidates' words and actions in governance meetings (e.g. Student Council and its committees) will become permanent public records, except for any discussions and materials presented in camera. Some personal information may be disclosed to the public (e.g. your photograph, faculty, year of study, age.) Officials and candidates should also understand that many of the UASU's relevant records are subject to Bylaw 500, which speaks to confidentiality and access to information. You are consenting to the collection and disclosure of this information as necessary, including personal information as defined by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act.
